Ok, admittedly there are some perks to doing what we do…
After shooting a Corona commercial on the beach on the north shore of Oahu, we decided to extend our stay and utilize the beautiful island for some personal work….what? Wouldn’t you? Photographed some gorgeous islanders, caught a few waves and ate my weight in poke!

For all of you fortunate enough to be familiar with it, our 30 second spot is a nod to the classic Caribbean bar game of swinging a ring on a string and landing it on a nail… evidently whenever someone lands it, the entire bar goes crazy!
I was pushing hard prior to the shoot to be sent to Martinique on a reconnaissance mission… and still am!
We should have the spot available on our site in June…Thanks to a quality film crew, production team and our LA based models traveling out and back…

Well, it happened.
Team Kiel has been fortunate up to this point having all our baggage arrive in a timely matter or when late… delivered to location…
Not this time. Landing in LAX this spring, we had 6 of our 7 pieces of luggage arrive…all in a row on the carousel. No, our connections were not tight… we were there to the bitter end searching and inquiring with the airlines to no avail.
Into thin air… large pelican case-gone…
We were grateful we were in LA- we had replacement gear accessable within minutes… how’s that for making lemonade out of lemons!?!!

Team Kiel is starting production on two more commercials for our friends at SPM out of Chicago! Set to shoot at the end of the month and looking forward to it!
Sun Valley Pond Hockey Champions!
Thought it should be noted that although free time is rare these days, we have to take time to keep balanced.
I entered a local pond hockey tournament with a few friends and, although it wasn’t pretty, we managed to walk away champions! We held on for eight hours of scrappy, sweaty, bruised up hockey and we won the “Copper Snow Shovel!” It is now proudly displayed at our legendary brew pub “Grumpy’s” home of the schooner…

On the tail end of the insane cold -and just before the crazy snowstorms- we spent a few days with our friends at Periscope, Carmichael Lynch, BDM, Olson, Colle McVoy, Fallon, and Martin Williams in Minneapolis! Great to see them all again and fun adding new ones to the list! We were even invited to take in a Timberwolves game… thanks Jason!
It is so good to connect- it really makes a difference taking the time- and despite the crazy demands on all of our days (working twice as hard for half the budget) we value the face time and find the time. Thanks for the conversations, the pulse of Minneapolis and the creative visions!
Business is off to a good start in 2011 and we look forward to getting creative and collaborating this year!
2010 was an explosive year working with film and I’ve loved the evolution in our industry! Team Kiel is excited about the relationship with MOTIV in LA and we are looking forward to an amazing year… still learning and growing with film and feeling alive!
Although my passion still lies in capturing the single moment in frame that stops people on a page, the translation in motion has been a new venture and there is much need for quality content these days. Often it’s an add on “shooting b role” start, but once edited these pieces make an impact and are an added highlight to the job. Take a second and view my reel!
