08•16•13 St. Luke's Road Trip

Just finished 5 days on the road in our own backyard Idaho shooting for our repeat client Drake Cooper and their St.Luke’s Hospitals campaign. Had a blast shooting their TV commercial, discovered cool little places throughout the state, and met tons of nice people along the way. On the last day, we extracted our NY/LA boys from their comfort zone at the Gooding Rodeo. Wild wild west action. Didn’t get them to ride the bull, but bought them outfits so they could look the part… classic. Thanks everyone for a great shoot.

Fire season in the west has reached my backyard, crazy. Hoping for rain……Unfortunately ended up at 4AM the next morning after this picture was taken being evacuated for a week. Big thank to all the fire personal working day and night on this fire.

Working a few days in LA with my editor and colorist to create a teaser for the ‘THICK AS THIEVES documentary… this thing is going to be cool.

After long days in dark screen rooms, it’s always a treat to end the day with good friends, waves, and sunshine. Viva L.A!

06•23•13 From the O2 to Choppers

It’s travel like this that makes me shake my head and give a nod of gratitude for what I do. Straight from shooting a crazy concert in the O2 Arena in London, I flew directly to Vancouver, B.C. and up to Whistler.  By 6:30am, after a solid night’s rest,  I was in a helicopter en route to the remote scenic location for our Dicks Sporting Goods shoot.

The “June-u-ary” weather held for the first two days, but our final day of shooting we were caught in a rain delay.  Team Kiel is not accustomed to idle time so we made our own KOPPEN polar bear club…  well worth the effort. With that arctic jolt of inspiration, we launched out of the socked in grey weather mode and decided to move the entire shoot to Sun Valley, ID.

Within 24 hours we filled in talent, nailed a fantastic location, captured all the images, had perfect weather, and even came in under budget!

Off to London this week to begin my ‘THICK AS THIEVES’ documentary.  In this segment, I  will capture the soulful, young, southern rock-n-roll band The Weeks as they embark on a European tour with the Kings of Leon and the evolution of their fame.

Team Kiel is cranking on pre-production for one of our favorite repeat clients, Dick’s Sporting Goods.  Our team will be reuniting with some of our favorite location crew this month in beautiful British Columbia.  We are taking 4 from our team, and it’s the 4th shoot.
